Clear Winter Night
20. January 2016 – A clear cold winter night. Currently minus 21 degrees outside, freezing cold but with the light of the moon and the snow, a scenery as in winter wonderland.
Excellent time for some night photography.
Small hint when going out to minus degrees.
Going from very cold outdoor weather to warmer indoor temperatures can cause problems for your camera. I carry always a MiniGrip / Zipbloc bag with me.
Sound maybe strange, but it’s a great way to protect your camera from condensation on your lenses and even inside the body. A MiniGrip bag is not perfect, but it helps.
Before you come in, put your cam to the bag and seal it. If you really can’t wait to see your photos, slip your card out first. Leave it like that for at least an hour. Your camera will slowly warm back to room temperature.
Ok, today I was out for 30 min, no big problem for the battery life time. In case you plan longer days in the cold, remember to take spare battery with you…
