First Blog about moon photography.
If possible I use my GorillaPod for moon photography to avoid blurry pictures. Even the shooter speed is short enough that I could manage without any pod, I prefer to stabilize my cam. For the shoot I’m using the self-timer of 5 seconds or my phone connected via WiFi.
My zoom lens is a simple nikon 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6g on a Nikon D7200 body.
Normally for the first shot i just try the Moon 11 rule. Also known as Looney f11 rule.
- f/11 and ISO 100 you can set the shutter speed to 1/100 or 1/125
- f/11 and ISO 200 you can set the shutter speed to 1/200 or 1/250
- f/11 and ISO 400 you can set the shutter speed to 1/400 or 1/500
Rules are meant to be broken – play around – try other settings and use tools to post-process your pictures.
Some other moon pictures I would like to share with you. 📷
Sometimes I have time to play around in Photoshop. Unfortunately it looks not that real 🙂 at least the star sky in the background turns nicely, but the moon it self is a bit static 🙂 but it was my so called “first touch with Photoshop” forgive me.
I´m waiting for other clear nights to improve my moon-photography and soon I will travel to Lapland and hope to get some great moon-landscape-pictures. – stay tuned.
cheers – Manu
