Virpominen – witches time
Virvonta or virpominen is a children’s tradition, which takes place on palm Sunday. Touching-decorated willow Wishing you happiness and health in general to the neighborhood.
All the children in the neighborhood dress up like witches, and carry decorated willow branches door to door to wish you happiness and health in general to the neighborhood.
Virvon, varvon, tuoreeks terveeks, tulevaks vuodeks – vitsa sulle, palkka mulle!
I wave a twig, for a fresh and healthy year ahead – a twig for you, a reward for me!
This is the rhyme the kids will present at your door.
It`s not so easy to get them to your lenses. While doing some time lapse photography in the early afternoon, three ran into my “photo trap”. Check out my time-lapse video from last year – Sunday 20.03.16
